Summer Season 2009
As it comes to a close, was it really as bad as feared?

You mean about the global economic crisis?
You should know... the ones who has plenty of money had nothing to do with the crisis. No problem for them.
Everybody else had and keep having really serious problems - not only at Crete.
But we are Cretans. We will allways smile at good and at bad times.

Oh yes my friend,as i have told you here,it is the worse season ever.Apart of the crisis Crete has many didvantages that are holding the tourist season down.Like the closed Arcaiological Museum, the 50 year old airport, the bad national roads etc, etc.
But as Holocaust said,we know how to live well with more or less income. We live in a beatifull place,we are not going to starve, and we can have a good time ,no matter of the money ...
What is bothering me is that with a good season we could help more OFI,buying more stocks, more season tickets, more exchursions...

Re: Summer Season 2009
From a UK perspective the weakness of the pound has made the Euro Zone a very expensive place to visit.
In fact, I would say under current conditions food etc. it is more expensive in Greece than here.
Having been there a month this summer from what I saw some tourist businesses .. hotels etc were not making any allowances for the fact that most people have less money to spend, and were not discounting their prices.
I hope 2010 season is better for everyone from all angles.
